About Bethel's Choir

Sing to the Lord, all the earth! Sing of His glorious name! Tell the world how wonderful He is
Psalm 66:1-2

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Bethel Choir is three-fold:

  • Glorify God
  • Proclaim God's Word through music
  • Minister to and through those who serve in Bethel's Music Ministry.

The fulfillment of our mission is dependent upon an earnest commitment from each choir member to God, His church and community and to the standards of the choir and the procedures set forth by the Choir Committee.

Objectives

To glorify Jesus Christ by allowing Him to use the Bethel Choir as a tool by which to work through the life of each individual member to:

  • Be effective in our ministry to our congregational family through the worshipful singing and leading of psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.
  • Prepare the hearts of the congregation to receive and apply the Word of God.
  • Foster a healthy and vibrant ministry within the music ministry family.
  • Be an example to the other members of the body at Bethel and in the Houston community by the testimony of their lives.
  • Be fully committed and faithful in attending rehearsals and services.
  • Be in total communication of unavoidable tardiness and absences.
  • Provide an avenue of service to the body at Bethel.
  • Provide responsible and sensitive shepherding by the appointment of the Choir Committee.
  • Strive for excellence in all corporate and individual endeavors relating to the Music Ministry.

Membership Expectations

1. Profession of faith and commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, in every area of life.
2. Be fully committed and faithful in attending rehearsals and services:

  • Realizing the importance of the ministry of the choir, every effort must be made to be in regular attendance.
  • Because rehearsals are limited, members should be on time and stay for the duration of the rehearsal.
  • Enter known unavoidable absences onto the calendar well in advance of the date.
  • In case of unexpected absence, each member is asked to notify the Secretary in advance as soon as possible, either by email, by telephone, or in person; whichever would be most expedient.

What Is a Podcast?

Though the Sermon Player offers direct download and streaming of past content, a podcast is distinguished from other digital media formats by its ability to be syndicated, subscribed to, and downloaded automatically when new content is added, using an aggregator or feed reader capable of reading feed formats such as RSS.

In short, what this means is that you can "subscribe" to the media player's podcast and never have to visit this page again.

How Do I Podcast?

To subscribe to this podcast, you'll first require some software on your computer. We recommend iTunes - free podcast software available at apple.com. Once downloaded and installed, open up iTunes, click on "Advanced", then click on "Subscribe to Podcast". Copy and paste the following link into the dialog box and click "OK".

Meet the Director

Lynelle Rowley

lynelle rowley houston bethel choir directorLynelle has served as Bethel's Choir Director for almost 3 years. She earned her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston and completed her undergraduate studies in music at the University of Northern Iowa.

As a native of Iowa, Lynelle has been living and singing in the Houston area for over 5 years. Coming to Christ early in life, she's always held a passion for music and worship, and while her professional training is as a classical vocalist, she's fallen in love with God's calling for her in the music ministry at Bethel. Nothing gives her more pleasure than lifting her voice as a love-offering to the Lord and helping others participate in that same calling.

Lynelle stays continually active as a soprano soloist in the Houston community. She has sung a number of operatic roles which include Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Helena in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Micaƫla in Carmen, and recently as Lucy in Robert Nelson's A Room with a View, which is available on DVD under the Newport Classic label.

Lynelle enjoys an active participation in several chamber music ensembles and serves as a member in the Houston Chamber Choir.
