Director's Notes

It is hard to believe that the holidays are upon us! This is a fun and busy time for Mother's Day Out at Bethel here in Houston, TX. I hope you will be able to join us for the special events we will be having throughout this season in Houston. I am so thankful for the precious children God has blessed us with and the wonderful staff who lovingly care for them. Our God is so good!

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!

Thanksgiving Feast

On Thursday, November 20, we will have our annual Thanksgiving feast for the 2's, 3's, and 4's classes. It is an especially fun day for the 3 year olds, who are the pilgrims and the 4 year olds, who are the Indians. They make costumes and prepare some of the meal. Then both classes join together to share the feast. The 2 year old classes enjoy their feast in their classrooms.

All the children learn about God's blessings and provision for our forefathers as well as for us today, and how important it is to have grateful hearts.

Our feast includes chicken nuggets, corn on the cob, rolls, fruit and cranapple juice. The older children make their own butter and Rice Krispie bars. There is no charge for the feast, however sign-up is necessary. See your child's teacher for more information.

Mom's Christmas Coffee

Mom's, please join us on Thursday, December 4 at 9:30 am in the Parlor for a quiet cup of coffee and goodies before your busy day begins. Wednesday children may join their classes during the coffee.

Operation Christmas Child

Mother's Day Out at Bethel is participating in this wonderful ministry again this year. Thank you for helping us teach our children that we are God's Hands to those in need. Please have all items/boxes turned in by November 13. If you need labels, they are on a table in the Fellowship Hall.

Staff Highlights

I thank the Lord for the staff God has provided to love and instruct our children. They are the core of Mother's Day Out at Bethel, and because of them, our program is terrific. I hope you all get a chance to get to know our teachers and helpers.

Old 1's Class

Misti Webb - Teacher
I am married and have a wonderful four year old daughter, Alliegh. The Lord is my number one reason for wanting to work with and help children grow to love and serve Him. I work with the Old 1's class and enjoy them so much. Watching children grow up and seeing what the Lord does through them is amazing to me. The Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to work at Bethel.

Ann Kinkle - Helper
My family moved back to Houston in 1973. My husband, George, and I were married for 46 years. He passed away this summer. Our son, Kelly, has lived in Tokyo for three years. He teaches English at Berlitz Japan, Inc. Our daughter, Laura, and son-in-law, Steve, moved to San Francisco last year. I am excited to be with the Old 1's class again. It is a joy to watch them grow with God.

Young 2's Class

Rebecca Harrison - Teacher
I am so excited about teaching your two year olds for Mother's Day Out at Bethel. I am a former elementary school teacher. After teaching for eight years, my husband, Rob, and I had our first child, William. William is nine months old and such a joy to us. My husband and I have been married for three years and attend Bethel. After being out of the classroom for a year, I am thrilled to have this opportunity again to teach in a Christian environment.

Macrina Valero - Helper
I was born in Mexico. I came to the United States in 1985, 23 years ago. I have 5 children - 4 boys and 1 girl. I also have a granddaughter. I have lived in Houston all this time. I am very happy to be working with Mother's Day Out at Bethel and love teaching children.

Old 2's Class

Geniffer Roach - Teacher
I am excited to be a part of the Mother's Day Out program at Bethel. Even though I am certified to teach first through eighth grade, preschool is my passion! Two year olds are my favorite age. I love their ever expanding vocabulary and how precious each and every one is! I am the mother to five children, ages 4 - 15. Our family keeps us very busy with sports and church activities. I am blessed to teach your children each week. I love telling them how special they are and how much Jesus loves them.

Mayra Garcia - Helper
I am happy to be the helper in the Old 2's class. My biggest blessing, my 3 1/2 year old son, Angel, also attends Bethel's Mother's Day Out program. I have been working with children for a long time and enjoy it very much. I'm very thankful to the Lord for giving me patience and a big heart to work with children.
