season of prayer - 40 days of thanksgiving

Introduction to Bethel's "Season of Prayer"

We invite you to join us in a forty-day season of prayer with a focus on "thankfulness". What is more appropriate as we approach our celebration of the Thanksgiving Holiday than to turn our hearts toward the One who is the source of all reasons to be thankful? Let's consider how we might pray for God's personal and transcendent nature. Also, as we think of God's actions, let's pray with thankfulness for His past faithfulness, present provision and plan for the future.

Prayer changes our hearts and accomplishes much as we pray in the Holy Spirit. Seeking God's will rather than our own is a habit worth forming, and prayer is a primary way to pursue this. Your prayers will honor Him to whom you pray, as you seek both the fulfillment of His Kingdom and His mercy toward all whom He would call as the day draws near. Join together with us in thankful and petitioning prayer for Bethel, for Houston, for the USA, for the world...

The suggestions within this daily prayer commitment are designed to remind you to pray frequently and to “jump start” you into this effort. But, we trust the Holy Spirit will then grab you and show you much more than our feeble efforts and suggestions of prayer topics within this initiative.

Yours in Christ,

Today's Prayer

  • Final Prayer

    Our Father in Heaven,
We conclude our forty-day prayer walk where we began it – acknowledging that You, and You alone, are the source of everything that Bethel and its people need and desire. We know in our hearts that You are capable of doing more than we could ever ask, yes, even more than we could ever imagine. We again ask that You would empower us and that your Holy Spirit would enable us, as a body of believers in your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be able to glorify you and your Son throughout the world, beginning here in Houston, Texas. Please raise up committed and steadfast believers in our body who are willing to pray frequently, serve diligently, and give sacrificially in order that Your Kingdom here on earth and in heaven is advanced. Thank you for giving us this tremendous opportunity to worship you through our service and the possessions with which you have blessed us. We pray that we show ourselves as a body of Christ-followers, worthy of your tremendous calling, so that your Son, in whose name we lift all of our prayers and petitions, is exalted “throughout all generations.”

    Amen.
